WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will open the 2020 season this weekend when they travel to Thomasville, North Carolina for a three-game, neutral-site series against Navy.
ABOUT THE WEEKEND
- The Hoyas and Midshipmen will play at 1 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the games will be held at Finch Field.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Georgetown is coming off of a 2019 season that saw it finish with a record of 22-34, while the Hoyas went 7-11 in BIG EAST play, finishing in fifth place, one game out from a postseason berth.
- A GU-record five Hoyas were selected to All-BIG EAST teams, while the program also set a record with four players taken in the 2019 MLB Draft in June.
- The Blue & Gray bring back 26 members of last year's squad and welcome nine newcomers.
- The Hoyas return nearly 80 percent of its offense from a season ago, including 377 hits, 29 home runs and 177 RBIs.
- On the mound, Georgetown brings back 11 wins, 208.1 innings pitched and 184 strikeouts.
- Junior Eddie McCabe was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
SCOUTING NAVY
- Navy went 39-17 in 2019, the second most wins in program history. The Midshipmen with 18-7 in Patriot League play, winning their fifth-straight regular season championship.
- After being selected as First Team All-Patriot Leaguers in 2019, Zach Biggers and Trey Braithwaite were placed on the 11-man preseason team. Jared Leins rounded out Navy's preseason honorees.
- Navy batted .272 as a team last year, while the pitching staff owned a 3.82 team ERA.
