Hoyas Slide Past Princeton in 5-2 Victory

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University softball team downed the Princeton Tigers 5-2 on Saturday afternoon on day two of the Colonial Classic, hosted by George Washington. Seniors Noelle Holiday and Alexa Dolby led GU to the victory as the Hoyas advance to 4-13 on the season and Princeton drops to 3-3 overall.

How it Happened
  • The Hoyas opened up the scoring early on in the top of the first from a walk, a hit by pitch and an RBI single from Holiday to grab an early 1-0 lead.
  • Princeton tied it up in the bottom of the third off of a Georgetown error.
  • GU answered in its next at bat to extend its lead to 3-1. With two runners on base, Dolby singled to first base and brought in the pair of RBIs.
  • In the top of the sixth, Dolby landed on base with a single and was able to reach home on a wild pitch to make it 4-1.
  • The Tigers scored another run in the bottom of the sixth off of a sacrifice hit.
  • Holiday sealed the 5-2 win in her final at bat in the seventh with a homer out of left field.

  • Senior Katie Vannicola finished the game in the circle, allowing just one hit off of her.
  • Dolby had a game high of three hits on the day while Holiday had two. They each brought in a pair of RBIs for the Hoyas.
