WASHINGTON –
Noelle Holiday led the Georgetown University softball team to a 9-1 victory over Morgan State on the final day of the Colonial Classic, hosted by George Washington. The Blue & Gray dominated on both sides today and advance to 5-13 on the season while the Bears drop to 2-10 overall.
How it Happened
- Georgetown started off strong from the get-go as Holiday landed a two-run homer in the top of the first.
- The Hoyas kept their streak going in the third inning as a walk and a single put runners on base. Alexa Dolby added another run from a fielder's choice and Kiki Besnard managed to steal home to make it 4-0. Mae Forshey followed up with an RBI double to center field to put another run on the board.
- Morgan State entered the scoring column in the fourth inning off of a double.
- In the top of the fifth, Lorena Vasquez-Inzunza landed on base with a single to left field and eventually reached home on a passed ball to make it 7-1.
- Holiday finished it off for the Blue & Gray in her final at bat with another two-run homer to seal the 9-1 victory for GU.
Of Note
- Junior London Diller pitched a complete game and tied her career high of 10 strikeouts. She allowed one run off of just four hits and walked two.
- Forshey had a game-high three hits and had two doubles on the day. Holiday recorded four RBIs off of a pair of home runs. Besnard and Vasquez-Inzunza added a pair of hits each. Additionally, Savannah Jones landed her first triple of the season.
- Vasquez-Inzunza scored three runs for the Hoyas.
