Georgetown Hosts No. 12/13 Seton Hall Wednesday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team returns home for a pair of games this week, starting with a Wednesday night matchup against No. 12/13 Seton Hall. Tipoff at Capital One Arena is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. The Blue & Gray comes in at 13-9 overall on the year and 3-6 in the BIG EAST.
 
GAMEDAY INFORMATION
  • Wednesday's game will be broadcast on FS1 with Brandon Gaudin calling the play-by-play and Nick Bahe providing analysis.
  • The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin in his 46th season on the call.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Jagan Mosely found Omer Yurtseven for the go-ahead basket with just 10 seconds remaining as Georgetown overcame a 17-point second-half deficit to defeat St. John's 73-72 on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
  • Jahvon Blair scored a career-high 23 points, going 9-of-19 from the floor and hitting five 3-pointers, to lead all scorers. He added five assists to tie a career best while playing a full 40 minutes.
  • Mosely finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists as he also played the entire game.
  • Yurtseven recorded his 12th double-double of the season with 13 points and 15 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass.
  • Terrell Allen and Jamorko Pickett were also in double figures with 10 points apiece, while Allen finished with five helpers and Pickett grabbed eight rebounds.
  • Georgetown shot 41.3 (26-63) percent from the field while holding St. John's to 40.9 (27-66) percent.
  • The Hoyas outrebounded the Red Storm 43-37.
 
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Mac McClung leads the Blue & Gray in scoring at 16.4 ppg. Yurtseven is second with 16.1 ppg and is averaging a double-double with a team-high 10.0 rpg.
  • The Hoyas lead the BIG EAST, and rank 27th nationally, with 15.8 assists per game after registering 20 assists against the Red Storm, their fifth 20-assist game this season.
  • Blair is among Georgetown's career top 25 in 3-pointers made as his 119 treys is 18th all-time and just one behind Brandon Bowman (120). Mosely has 311 career assists, which is 17th on GU's career list and just three away from Mike Riley (314).
 
SCOUTING SETON HALL
  • Seton Hall enters Wednesday with a 16-5 record and an 8-1 mark in BIG EAST play after dropping its first conference game on Saturday to Xavier 74-62.
  • The Pirates average 74.3 ppg while allowing opponents to score 65.2 ppg. They lead the BIG EAST in scoring margin (+9.1 ppg) and blocks (6.3 bpg).
  • Miles Powell leads Seton Hall and is second in the BIG EAST with 21.4 ppg. Quincy McKnight is the only other Pirate in double figures at 11.5 ppg. 
  • Jared Rhoden leads the team on the glass with 6.3 rpg while McKnight paces the offense with 5.4 apg.
 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Wednesday will be the 110th all-time meeting between the longtime BIG EAST rivals with the Hoyas holding a 59-50 series advantage. Seton Hall has won the last two matchups, but GU has taken the last two games at Capital One Arena.
  • The Pirates came away with a 78-62 win last month in Newark, New Jersey.
  • Patrick Ewing is 2-4 against Seton Hall as GU's head coach and went a perfect 8-0 against the Pirates as a player.
 
COMING UP NEXT
The Hoyas will remain home for a Saturday afternoon matchup against DePaul at Capital One Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for noon and the game will be broadcast on MASN2. Fans can listen locally to both games on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin on the call.
