NEW YORK – Despite leading by as many as 15, the Georgetown University men's basketball team couldn't hold off a late push from the St. John's University Red Storm in the first round of the 2020 BIG EAST Tournament presented by Jeep. The Hoyas struggled to find the bottom of the net late as the Johnnies pushed for the 75-62 win to advance to the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament.
ON THE RECORD
"I thought that they embraced the fact that we lost guys; guys got hurt. I thought that they still believed in themselves. They kept working. [
Terrell Allen and
Jagan Mosely] stepped up and played extremely well for us.
Jamorko Pickett had a spell. And
Jahvon Blair had a spell. But I thought the whole team, especially these two guys, when you are building a team, you want to build your team with guys like these."
- Head Coach
Patrick Ewing on the 2019-20 Georgetown team
