WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team had 13 student-athletes selected to the 2020 Phil Steele Preseason All-Patriot League Team, as announced last week. Three Hoyas earned nods to the first team, while four were named to the second team and seven more to the third team. Highlighting the accolades was
Joshua Tomas who was named all-conference at three different positions.
Joshua Tomas - First Team Wide Receiver | First Team Punt Returner | Second Team All-Purpose
- Led the Hoyas in 2019 with 53 receptions, tied for team lead with five receiving touchdowns and was second with 709 receiving yards.
- Rushed 16 times for 97 yards and a touchdown.
- Averaged 18.5 yards on 14 kickoff returns, as well as 13.1 yards on 17 punt returns.
- Had two 100-yard receiving games and had the Patriot League's only punt return touchdown.
Cameron Deen - First Team Defensive Back
- Ranked sixth on the team in 2019 with 44 tackles while also adding an interception, 1.5 TFL and 0.5 sacks.
- Had a season-high 11 tackles and an interception in the season-opener at Davidson.
- Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Football Team … Named to Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Ahmad Wilson - First Team Defensive Back
- All-Patriot League First Team selection in 2019, his third postseason all-conference honor.
- Ranked second on the GU defense with 62 tackles while also adding 3.0 TFL, a forced fumble and an interception.
- Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the Patriot League All-Academic Team and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Wes Bowers - Second Team Linebacker
- In 2019, ranked fifth on the team with 46 total tackles, while also recording 4.5 TFL and 1.0 sacks.
- In three years on the Hilltop, has 194 tackles, 14.5 TFL, 5.5 sacks and four interceptions.
- Named the 2019 and 2020 recipient of the No. 35 Joe Eacobacci Memorial Jersey, becoming just the third player to wear it twice.
Duval Paul - Second Team Defensive Line
- Selected to the All-Patriot League First Team in 2019, his second-straight all-conference honor.
- Finished with 31 tackles, 3.5 TFL and 2.0 sacks in nine games as a junior.
- Has 103 tackles, 10.5 TFL and 6.5 sacks in three seasons.
TJ Thomas - Second Team Offensive Line
- Started all 11 games at left guard as a sophomore.
- Part of a unit that allowed a league-low 19 sacks and led the Patriot League in rushing offense (147.4 ypg).
Neal Azar - Third Team Offensive Line
- Started all 11 games at center as a sophomore in 2019.
- Two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Theron Cooper – Third Team Offensive Line
- Started all 11 games at left tackle as a junior in 2019.
- Part of a unit that allowed a league-low 19 sacks and led the Patriot League in rushing offense (147.4 ypg).
Jonathan Honore - Third Team Defensive Back
- Had a team-high three interceptions, to go along with 32 tackles while playing in all 11 games as a junior.
- His interception in the end zone against Columbia was selected as Georgetown's Top Play of 2019.
Ibrahim Kamara - Third Team Defensive Line
- Led the Hoyas with 4.0 sacks as 2019 to go along with 30 tackles.
- Ranked fourth on the defense with 6.0 TFL while playing in all 11 games.
Owen Kessler - Third Team Linebacker
- Led the defense with 7.5 TFL while playing in all 11 games as a junior.
- Ranked fifth on the team with 2.5 sacks and seventh with 41 tackles.
- Named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high 13 tackles in season opener at Davidson.
Herman Moultrie III - Third Team Running Back
- Rushed 110 times for 379 yards and seven touchdowns in just seven games before season ended because of injury.
- Had two 100-yard rushing games as well as two multi-touchdown performances.
Brady Weas - Third Team Long Snapper
- Has appeared in every game since arriving on the Hilltop.
- Part of a punting unit in 2019 that averaged 39.2 yards per punt.
