Football Heads to Lehigh for Patriot League Finale

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown football team will hit the road for a noon showdown at Goodman Stadium in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with Lehigh on Saturday.

About the Hoyas:
  • Georgetown is coming off a 41-20 loss to Fordham last week and will look to snap a two-game skid in the Keystone State.
  • Joshua Tomas and Ahmad Wilson each secured a Patriot League weekly Honorable Mention following successful performances against Fordham.
  • For the second consecutive week, Tomas earned a weekly Honorable Mention following a 100-yard, one-touchdown performance and set a new game high in receiving yards. The 5-foot-11 wide receiver reeled in a personal-best 142 receiving yards on 10 receptions to go along with his 3-yard score from fellow senior Joseph Brunell. Tomas earned his third Honorable Mention selection of the season (Oct. 18, Nov. 1) and fifth of his career.
  • Wilson recorded a team-high 11 tackles, seven of which were made on his own. The senior defensive back also broke up one pass on the afternoon. The 6-foot-1 defender picked up his first Honorable Mention of the season and second of his career (Oct. 21, 2019).
  • Jackson Saffold registered his second touchdown of the season against Fordham.
  • Pierce Holley paces the team with 99 completions and 1,295 passing yards in 2021.
  • Georgetown ranks second in Patriot League passing yards with 2,036 and completions with 161 while ranking third in total offense with 2,667 all-purpose yards.
  • The Hoyas also hold second place in the conference with a 40.2-percent conversion rate on third down, succeeding in 51 of the team's 127 attempts.
About the Mountain Hawks:
  • Lehigh is coming off its first win of the season with a dominating 38-6 victory over Bucknell.
  • The Mountain Hawks' rushers combined for five touchdowns on the ground with 175 yards on 43 attempts.
  • With its victory over Bucknell, Lehigh won its first game since downing the Hoyas, 27-24, on Oct. 26, 2019.
  • Dante Perri ranks fourth in the Patriot League with 869 total yards on offense.
Against Lehigh:
  • Saturday will be the 26th all-time matchup between the two programs.
  • Georgetown and Fordham have split their last two meetings and the Hoyas have not beaten the Mountain Hawks on their turf in eight opportunities.
  • The last Hoya win against the host squad came on Oct. 6, 2018, when Saffold racked up 63 yards on 18 rushing attempts to go along with a pair of touchdowns in Georgetown's 22-16 double-overtime thriller. The 6-foot running back found the end zone twice in each of the extra periods and eventually knocked off the Mountain Hawks.
Coming Up:
  • Georgetown will close out its 2021 season with a non-conference matchup against Morgan State in Baltimore on Saturday, Nov. 20 with kickoff slated for noon at Hughes Memorial Stadium.
