Kevin Warne Named 2021 USILA “F. Morris Touchstone” Division I Coach of the Year

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Warne was recognized with the F. Morris Touchstone Award as the 2021 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I Coach of the Year, as announced at the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association summit on Friday. Warne led the Hoyas to a 13-3 overall record in 2021, the team's third-straight BIG EAST Championship and guided the Blue & Gray to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 2007.

  • Went 13-3 to tie the program record for wins and went 9-1 in league play to earn Georgetown's first BIG EAST regular season title.
  • Hoyas won their third-straight BIG EAST Championship and made the program's 14th NCAA Tournament appearance.
  • Defeated Syracuse in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 2007.
  • Warne – along with Michael Phipps, David Shriver and Jack Rowlett – earned BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the third time in his career.
  • The Hoyas had eight USILA All-Americans, including Owen McElroy as the Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Outstanding Goalie recipient.
  • Jake Carraway broke the program's all-time points and goals records and was Georgetown's first Tewaaraton Award Finalist since 2005.
  • The Hoyas led the NCAA in scoring defense (8.31) and man-down defense (.829) while ranking in the top 10 nationally in assists per game (3rd - 9.56), scoring margin (4th – 4.81), clearing (5th - .894) and points per game (7th – 22.69).
  • Georgetown went undefeated at home and defeated five opponents ranked in the USILA top-20 poll throughout the season.
 
Warne begins his 10th season on the sidelines for the Hoyas in 2022. Georgetown opens the campaign at home against Johns Hopkins on Sunday, February 13.
