WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team made it a one-possession game (76-73) with just 21 seconds in regulation but could not pull off the comeback bid as the Hoyas fell 80-73 to the visiting Texas Christian University Horned Frogs in the BIG EAST/Big 12 Battle on Saturday afternoon. With the setback at Capital One Arena, the Hoyas sit at 6-5 on the season while TCU improves to 9-1.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Aminu Mohammed registered his fifth double-double of the season, posting game bests of 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead a trio of Hoyas in double figures.
- Kaiden Rice added 14 points while Donald Carey added another 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting.
- Carey and Beard paced the offense with five assists apiece.
- Ryan Mutombo recorded a game-best three blocks as the Hoyas held the edge in swats (7-6).
- Georgetown and TCU both shot 42.4 percent (28-66) for the game but the Horned Frogs outrebounded GU 44-34.
- The Hoyas forced 12 TCU turnovers, committing 11 of their own.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Malcolm Wilson scored the opening bucket for the third-consecutive contest with a tip-in at the rim.
- The Blue & Gray went on a 9-2 run to take its first lead of the game, 13-12, as Collin Holloway, Mohammed and Mutombo scored three points apiece.
- Carey drained a contested trey to jumpstart a 5-0 run of his own and give the Hoyas a 20-18 edge with 8:14 remaining.
- Following a GU timeout, Georgetown went on to score nine unanswered points to take a two-point advantage (32-30).
- Mohammed blocked TCU's final shot of the frame and the Hoyas went into the break trailing, 39-36.
- Georgetown opened the half on an 8-2 run capped off by a Wilson slam, forcing TCU to take a timeout with the Hoyas ahead by three (44-41, 16:39).
- The Hoyas matched each Horned Frog shot over the next six minutes of action to deadlock the game at 55.
- Mohammed drove the lane and completed a three-point play to end TCU's run and pull the Hoyas to within two (66-64, 6:00).
- Georgetown nearly pulled off the comeback, outscoring TCU 7-3 in the final 2:08 before falling 80-73 at the final whistle.
OF NOTE
- Mohammed's 21 tallies mark the third time he has scored at least 20 points in a game (11/25 San Diego State; 12/11 Syracuse) and the 10th occasion a Hoya has reached the 20-point plateau this season.
- In 11 games this season, Mohammed has been the team leader eight times in either points (11/13 Dartmouth; 11/16 American; 11/25 vs. San Diego State; 12/11 Syracuse; 12/18 TCU) and/or rebounds (11/19 Siena; 11/30 Longwood; 12/05 at South Carolina; 12/11 Syracuse; 12/18 TCU).
