Kaiden Rice shattered the school's record with 10 treys for a career-high 34 points, helping the Georgetown University men's basketball team to its first 100-point performance of the season with a 100-71 victory over UMBC on Wednesday night at Capital One Arena. With the win, the Hoyas jumped to 4-4 on the year while the Retrievers fell to 5-4.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Kaiden Rice broke the previous record (7), originally set by Mark Tillmon on Feb. 13, 1990 against Providence and fell one shy of tying the BIG EAST record with his 10 triples. His 34-point performance snapped his previous best of 30 against Eastern Tennessee State on Dec. 4, 2019. Rice shot 11-for-14 from the field and put forth a 10-for-12 performance from behind the arc. The graduate student added three rebounds and a trio of assists in his 30 minutes of action.
- Ryan Mutombo registered his first career double-double with 15 points on seven made field goals and 11 rebounds.
- Aminu Mohammed registered his third double-double of the season, posting 13 points (5-10 FG) while pulling down 10 boards.
- Mutombo's and Mohammed's performances on Wednesday marked the first time since Omer Yurtseven (10P, 11R) and Jamorko Pickett (18P, 11R) on Jan. 8, 2020 against St. John's that two players recorded a double-double in the same game.
- Dante Harris rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 points to go along with six rebounds and a game-high seven assists.
- Malcolm Wilson put up a career-high four blocks on the game while adding four points and three rebounds to his final line.
- Georgetown dominated under the basket, outrebounding the opposition, 61-30, and outscoring UMBC, 44-26, in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoyas came out firing on all cylinders, going on a 24-10 run without a missed shot and scoring on 10-straight chances from the floor. Rice went 3-for-3 behind the arc, Carey drained a trey of his own, and the trio of Mohammed, Harris and Mutombo all scored four apiece over the team's perfect six minutes of action.
- UMBC went on to knot the game at 30, but shortly after, Rice took control and scored five of the team's seven unanswered points to take a 38-33 lead with 3:53 remaining in the half.
- Georgetown finished the opening frame draining its final four shots, including a corner triple from Mohammed to beat the buzzer and sending the Hoyas into the break with a 48-40 edge.
- The Blue & Gray started the second half hitting four of its first five shots, including a pair of treys off of Rice's hot hands and layups from Wilson and Mohammed.
- The Hoyas continued to pour it on, scoring 28 points in the first nine minutes of the half to give them a 78-57 edge.
- Rice set the school record with eight treys in the middle of his own 9-0 run, hitting three-straight triples to push the Blue & Gray ahead, 87-57.
- Chuma Azinge scored the final bucket for GU, reaching the 100-point plateau and lifting the home squad to a 100-71 victory.
OF NOTE
- Harris recorded his seventh-straight game with at least 10 points.
- Tonight's game marked the first 100-point performance since Dec. 29, 2018, downing Howard, 102-67.
- Ten blocks are the most in a game this season by the Hoyas and most since its nine against St. John's on Dec. 13, 2020.
