WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team dropped its home opener on Saturday afternoon, falling 44-9 to Harvard at Cooper Field. With the loss, the Hoyas slip to 1-1 on the season, while the Crimson move to 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harvard jumped out to a quick lead with long scoring plays on each of their first two possessions. After their second touchdown, Isaiah Byrd blocked the PAT attempt and Jovone Campbell returned it for the 2-point conversion to make it a 13-2 game.
- On Georgetown's next possession, Brunell found Tomas inside the pylon for a 15-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit down 13-9.
- A 36-yard touchdown run gave Harvard a 20-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- The Crimson added a 42-yard field goal and another long touchdown run in the second quarter as the Hoyas trailed 30-9 at the half.
- Harvard added single touchdowns in the third and fourth quarter to provide the final 44-9 score.

Georgetown will head back out on the road on Saturday, September 25 when the squad travels to New York City for a game at Columbia. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. It will be the sixth rendition of the Lou Little Trophy, with the Blue & Gray having won three of the first five contests including a 24-10 win over the Lions in 2019.
