Hoyas Lose at DePaul

CHICAGO – The Georgetown University women's basketball team dropped a 102-69 decision to the DePaul University Blue Demons Sunday afternoon at Wintrust Arena in a BIG EAST Conference matchup. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to to 6-6 on the season and 1-3 in league play.  

How it Happened
  • DePaul (14-4, 6-1 BIG EAST) opened the game on a 13-0 run before junior Graceann Bennett stopped the momentum with a layup.
  • Georgetown would cut it as close as seven on a triple from graduate student Milan Bolden-Morris, but the Blue Demons answered with a 10-0 run.
  • The Hoyas trailed DePaul 30-16 at the end of the first quarter.
  • The Blue Demons would continue to score moving ahead by as much as 21, but the Blue & Gray would fight back.
  • A pair of treys by Bolden-Morris sparked a 6-0 run and the GU defense held DePaul scoreless for more than three minutes.
  • DePaul would hold a 51-32 advantage at the break.
  • Sophomore Kelsey Ransom took over for the Hoyas in the third as she scored six-consecutive points followed by a Bolden-Morris 3-pointer to make it 85-51 at the end of the third.
  • Early fourth-quarter fouls put the Blue Demons on the line and they never looked back as GU eventually fell 102-69.
Of Note
  • Bolden-Morris led the way with 17 points for the Hoyas, including five 3-pointers.
  • Ransom added 13 points, and sophomore Yasmin Ott rounded out those in double figures with 11.
  • Freshman Kaliyah Myricks pulled down seven rebounds in her first-career start.
  • The Hoyas shot 39.1 percent (27-69) from the field and allowed 51.4 percent (38-74) shooting by the Blue Demons.
  • Georgetown outrebounded DePaul 40-39, and the GU defense forced 13 Blue Demon turnovers.

  • The Hoyas will return home for the first time in more than a month next weekend as the squad hosts Creighton University on Friday at 7 p.m. at McDonough Arena. The game will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi on FloSports. Live stats will be available at GUHoyas.com.
All Georgetown women's basketball home games are currently scheduled to be played at McDonough Arena. All Georgetown University indoor on-campus intercollegiate athletics events will be played with no fans in attendance for the month of January due to the emergence and rapid spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the Washington, D.C., region, across the country, and globally.
