With the win, the Hoyas improve to 6-4-3 overall and 4-1-1 in league play, while the Wildcats are now 5-6-2 for the season and 2-4-1 in the BIG EAST.
How it Happened
- Georgetown possessed early and found the back of the net in the 15th minute after sophomore midfielder Blaine Mabie controlled the ball and sent it to Kyle Linhares on the right side. The junior sent it into the box, and a charging Jacob Murrell got his foot on it to make it 1-0.
- Junior forward Marlon Tabora utilized the give-and-go for the second goal as he passed it to junior midfielder Trevor Burns before getting it back and firing to the far post to make it 2-0 in the 38th minute.
- Just two minutes later, the Blue & Gray added a third as sophomore defender Kieran Sargeant battled down the left side and hit a low ball into the box. He found freshman midfielder Max Viera on the other end who finished at the far post for his second-career goal on the Hilltop to make it 3-0 which would stand at the half.
- Midway through the second half, junior goalkeeper Ryan Schewe saw his first true test as he came off his line to keep it scoreless as the defense stood strong.
- In the 70th minute, Villanova saw a scramble in the box result in a shot to the far post and a goal as the 'Cats pulled within two, 3-1.
- The Wildcat's added another in the 89th minute and searched for the equalizer over the final minute of action, but Schewe came up with one last stop making the final 3-2.
