Georgetown Falls to No. 11 UConn

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown field hockey team fell 3-0 to the UConn Huskies on Friday afternoon in Washington, D.C. With the setback, the Hoyas hold a record of 3-13, while the Huskies advance to 11-4 for the season.
 
How it Happened
  • The Huskies opened up the scoring four minutes into the game when Madi Herb scored on an unassisted effort.  
  • UConn would add one more in the first quarter to make the score 2-0.
  • Herb tallied her second of the game five minutes into the second quarter and the score would hold at 3-0 going into halftime.
  • The third quarter was scoreless as Ciara Weets was spectacular for the Blue & Gray in the cage making four saves.
  • In the fourth quarter UConn had the majority of chances putting up five shots to the Hoyas one.
  • The Hoyas were unable to generate much offense and fell to the No. 11 Huskies 3-0.
 
Of Note
  • Ciara Weets made 11 saves in the match for the Hoyas.

The Hoyas will play again on Sunday, October 23 when they host Longwood at Cooper Field. Gametime is set for 1 p.m.
