WASHINGTON – The Georgetown field hockey team fell 3-2 during overtime to the Longwood University Lancers on Sunday afternoon at Cooper Field. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to a record of 3-14, while the Lancers move to 4-12 for the season.
How it Happened
- The Hoyas opened up the scoring early in the first quarter with a goal by Vivienne Trumpbour, assisted by Elena Leahy and Sophie Towne.
- Trumpbour followed up with another goal for the Hoyas minutes later, bringing the score to 2-0 at the end of the first quarter.
- The Lancers answered in the second quarter with a goal by Maroussia Walckiers off a rebound.
- The Lancers tied up the match with a goal off a rebound by Floor Schouten in the third quarter.
- The 2-2 score would stand for the fourth quarter despite pressure from both teams, pushing the game into overtime.
- In the final minute of the overtime period, the Lancers scored with a goal by Walckiers, taking the victory.
