WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the DePaul University Blue Demons in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Wish Field in Chicago, Illinois. With the tie, the Hoyas move to 4-4-3 overall and 2-1-1 in league play, while the Blue Demons are now 3-3-5 for the season and 0-1-3 in the BIG EAST.
How it Happened
- "After losing a goal early, I was happy to see us fight back to get the point on the road. In a positive, we generated 16 shots on a narrow field and Marlon had a great goal. He's been on of our best players in this stretch of the season, and that's good to see. It's been good to have guys show up on this road trip and get us a win and a tie. Conceding the goal was frustrating, but in a league of this caliber, we'll take four point on the road and look ahead to Wednesday."
How it Happened
- DePaul scored in the opening minutes of the contest as a near post corner kick found the back of the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the Blue Demons.
- The Blue & Gray pushed, looking for the equalizer. A shot in the 25th minute by sophomore Blaine Mabie was saved by DePaul keeper Gandhi Cruz as GU continued to trail.
- The 1-0 score would stand at the break.
- In the opening minute of the second half, the Hoyas searched for a goal as a shot by junior Marlon Tabora sailed over the crossbar but the Hoyas were buzzing.
- On the next play, a takeaway would fall to Tabora who took two touches and fired past the arm of Cruz to find the back of the net and tie the game at one.
- Georgetown would hold possession and outshot the Blue Demons in the second half, however, the go-ahead goal would not come as the game concluded in a 1-1 tie.

- GU was awarded three corner kicks to DPU's five in the game.
- Hoya junior Ryan Schewe took the draw in the net with no saves for the match.
