Football Stunned in Overtime Against Bucknell

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football team fell to Bucknell 24-21 in overtime on Saturday at Cooper Field.

ON THE RECORD
"This one hurts because our guys prepared extremely well and played hard throughout the day. It was a good, physical Patriot League football game and I give Bucknell a lot of credit for their effort in the fourth and overtime. Josh Tomas continues to prove why he is the one of the best players at the [Division] I-AA level with another solid game. We started extremely strong and have to continue that momentum throughout. I thought we had our opportunities to close out at the end of third and early in the fourth and just didn't take advantage of them. We'll take the lessons from the game and get ready to celebrate the senior class this week coming into our final game against Holy Cross." - Head Coach Rob Sgarlata on today's contest against Bucknell

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS

  • David Ealey and Rashon Adams led the team with nine and eight tackles, respectively.
  • Eleven different Hoyas factored in the 11 tackles for a loss of 38 yards, adding three sacks on the afternoon.
  • Dorrian Moultrie also added nine catches for 65 yards and a score.
  • Pierce Holley set the program record for most completions in a season with his 26 against Bucknell, totaling 263 on the season. The GU quarterback finished the game with 201 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Despite the loss, the Hoyas outproduced the Bison on offense with 323 offensive yards with 227 through the air and 96 on the ground.
