Football to Host Senior Day Against No. 6 Holy Cross on Saturday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team will celebrate its graduating class at Senior Day when Patriot League foe No. 6 Holy Cross comes to the Hilltop on Saturday, November 19 with kickoff slated for 12:30 p.m. at Cooper Field. Senior Day festivities will begin at approximately noon.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Bucknell (24-21), despite another standout performance from Joshua Tomas.
  • The GU wideout earned his seventh-consecutive Honorable Mention after compiling nine receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown, marking his fourth-straight and seventh 100+ yard game of the season. He is 31 yards away (1,149) from breaking Luke McArdle's single-season receiving yards record of 1,180.
  • Tomas is one of three players in FCS and two in the Patriot League with 1,000+ receiving yards this season (1,149). Tomas also leads the nation with 88 receptions, 114.9 receiving ypg and 8.8 catches per game.
  • Wedner Cadet remained the Patriot League pick leader and second in FCS with five on the season while ranking fourth in the nation with 125 return yards on interceptions.
  • Quarterback Pierce Holley became the single-season leader in completions (263) following last week's game with Bucknell. The senior playcaller could also break a J.J. Mont's 24-year-old single-season passing yards record (2,712) on Saturday as Holley sits at 2,621 (13th in FCS).
  • The Colorado native is also ranked fifth in FCS in completions per game, averaging 26.3 while boasting a conference-leading 66.8% completion rating for 15th in the nation. Holley has helped the Hoyas to 277.3 passing ypg which also ranks 15th in FCS.

ABOUT THE CRUSADERS
  • No. 6 Holy Cross enters Saturday's game with a perfect 10-0 record and is coming off a 36-29 win over Bryant.
  • The Crusaders have been the top defensive team in the Patriot League, allowing a conference-leading 20.9 points and 334.8 total yards per game.
  • Matthew Sluka has led Holy Cross all season, recording 22 passing touchdowns (2nd in PL) and 2,000 yards through the air. He ranks inside the top five in FCS with 16.26 yards per completion (2nd) and 171.1 passing efficiency (4th).
  • Head Coach Bob Chesney is in his fifth year with the program, guiding his team to at least a share of the Patriot League title for the fourth-straight season.

THE MATCHUP
  • Saturday will mark the 31st all-time meeting between Georgetown and Holy Cross. 
  • The last time these teams played at Cooper Field, the Crusaders narrowly squeaked past the Hoyas 32-31 on November 17, 2018.
