SAN JUAN, P.R. – The Georgetown University women's basketball team fell to the Mississippi State Bulldogs 67-32 on Friday afternoon at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico in the first game of the Puerto Rico Clasico. With the loss, the Blue & Gray drops to 3-2, while the Bulldogs improve to 5-1.
How it Happened
- Georgetown battled in the first quarter as the Blue & Gray tried to build a small lead.
- Buckets from senior Jada Claude and Graceann Bennett made it 6-4, but the Bulldogs came back.
- A power move from sophomore Ariel Jenkins followed by a fast-break layup from junior Kelsey Ransom put GU on top 10-8, and a triple from freshman Kennedy Fauntleroy helped make the score 13-11 in favor of the Hoyas at the end of the first.
- Mississippi State began the second period on a 14-0 run before a layup from Jenkins stopped the momentum.
- GU would not find a way to slow them further as the Hoyas went into the break trailing 31-16.
- The Bulldogs would build the lead to as much as 23, but the Hoyas managed a quick spurt midway through the third as Bennett hit a free throw followed by buckets from Moore and Fauntleroy to cut it to 18.
- Mississippi State would answer to make the score 50-28 at the end of the third period.
- The comeback would never come for the Blue & Gray, eventually falling 67-32.

- Fauntleroy led the way with seven points, while Moore and Bennett each had six in the game.
- Ransom managed five points, but pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds for the contest.
- The Hoyas shot 22.8% (13-57) from the field, but allowed 40.0% (24-60) shooting by the Bulldogs.
