Joshua Tomas and Wedner Cadet Earn Patriot League Honorable Mentions

WASHINGTON – Wideout Joshua Tomas and defensive back Wedner Cadet dominated on Saturday against Saint Francis (Pa.), both capturing a Patriot League Honorable Mention as announced by the league on Monday.

Joshua Tomas | WR | Gr. | University Park, Ill. - Honorable Mention
  • Tomas earned his sixth-consecutive Honorable Mention after compiling seven catches for a career-high 180 yards and two touchdowns, marking his third-straight and sixth 100+ yard game of the season. 
  • The GU wideout set program records for single-season receptions (79) and career receptions (207). 
  • Tomas also eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career, becoming just the fourth Hoya since the program's move to FCS to accomplish the feat. 
  • He is the only player in FCS with 1,000+ receiving yards this season (1,028) and also leads the nation with 79 receptions and 8.8 catches per game.
  • The Illinois native picked up his 13th career Honorable Mention, the team's 11th of the year and his seventh of the season.

Wedner Cadet | DB | Fr. | Wellesley, Mass. - Honorable Mention
  • Cadet secured his first career Honorable Mention after a stellar performance on Saturday, recording GU's first pick-six since 2018 and taking a 31-yard interception to the house for his Patriot League-leading fifth of the season. 
  • The freshman corner also tied Justin Fonteneaux with a team-high eight tackles. 
  • Cadet ranks second in FCS with 125 return yards on interceptions and his five picks are tied with three others for second. 
  • The Massachusetts native earned the team's 12th honorable mention of the season.
