HARTFORD, Conn. – The Georgetown University women's basketball team fell 90-49 to the UConn Huskies Sunday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference game at XL Center. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 7-17 on the season and 2-14 in conference play.

How it Happened

• Ransom took it to the hole early with back-to-back layups before UConn (19-5, 13-1 BIG EAST) would hit a jumper to spark a 12-0 run.
• A triple from graduate student Mary Clougherty stopped the run, but the press caused problems for the Blue & Gray as the Hoyas ended the first quarter trailing 20-9.
• Georgetown would not go away in the second quarter as twice, graduate student Milan Bolden-Morris sank triples to cut the Husky advantage to nine.
• UConn came right back with an 8-0 run to force a Georgetown timeout as the Hoyas battled to stay in the game.
• The Huskies would continue the momentum taking the lead to as much as 43-17 before senior Jillian Archer sank a layup.
• UConn would lead 45-19 entering the break.
• Georgetown searched for the comeback in the third quarter as Clougherty hit back-to-back 3-pointers late in the period.
• However, the run would not come as GU was behind 70-35 at the end of three.
• Clougherty continued to rain threes to begin the final period. Despite the scoring, UConn matched on the other end and the Hoyas would eventually fall 90-49.

 Of Note

• Clougherty led the way with 15 points as the lone Hoya in double figures.
• Ransom added eight points, three rebounds and two steals.
• Archer and freshman Ariel Jenkins both pulled down a squad-high five rebounds.
• The Hoyas shot 32.1% (17-53) from the field and allowed 56.9% (33-58) shooting by the Huskies.
• Georgetown was outrebounded by UConn 37-26, and the GU defense forced 21 Husky turnovers.

• The Hoyas will host its home finale on Tuesday as the squad welcomes the Villanova Wildcats to McDonough Arena for a 7 p.m. BIG EAST Conference matchup.
