COLLEGE PARK – Despite an offensive onslaught with four Hoya homers, the Georgetown University baseball team was stunned, 10-9, by No. 24 Maryland in the final inning at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium on Friday evening. The Hoyas fell to 8-5 while the Terps moved to 11-2.
"A great Friday night of baseball between two teams in the area. Unfortunately, we came up a little short but I am proud of our guys and our fight. Great way to come out and play a top 30 team, it's just unfortunate we came one-run short but it doesn't stop what our offense did.
Jake Hyde,
Andrew Ciufo,
Ethan Stern and
Andrew Bergeron did a great job. On the road against a team like this, it was a hard-fought, competitive game and we will regroup and be ready for Sunday." - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson on today's game
