Hoyas and Will O’Neill Place Second at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's golf team finished in second place at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Virginia hosted by William & Mary University. The two-day tournament was played at the par-71 6,817 yard Golden Horseshoe Golf Course. This is the fourth top five finish for the Hoyas, and their highest overall finish during the 2021-22 season.

"We competed hard over 54 holes with challenging conditions. Golden Horseshoe is a famed golf course and a true test of golf. I am especially proud of Will as he was in the hunt to win his first intercollegiate tournament!", said Head Coach Tommy Hunter

Hoya Results

  • Senior captain Will O'Neill was GU's top scorer as he finished with a five-under 66 in round one, a 76 in round two and a 73 in round three. O'Neill finished in sole possession of second place.

  • Senior captain Brad Whitaker and junior David Rogers both finished tied for 11th with total scores of 224. Whitaker carded scores of  71, 76 and 77 while Rogers carded a 76, 74 and 74 

  • Freshman Jacob Finard finished tied for 20th with scores of 75, 75 and 77. 

  • Freshman Charlie Creamean finished tied for 31st with scores of 75, 77 and 79. 

Tournament Leaders

  • Towson won the tournament (+30, 882), Georgetown placed second (+37, 889) and Old Dominion (+47, 899) placed third to round out the top three. 
     

Up Next: 

The Hoyas return to action at the Princeton Invitational, hosted by the Princeton Tigers the weekend of April 9-10.
