Men’s Golf Finishes Second at ODU/OBX Intercollegiate After Playoff, McGlinn Earns Runner-Up Finish

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's golf team wrapped up its fall season with a second-place finish at the 2026 ODU/OBX Intercollegiate at Kilmarlic Golf Club in Powells Point, North Carolina. The Hoyas carded rounds of 294, 281 and 274 to finish three-under par on the par-71, 6,578-yard course, ultimately falling to James Madison in a sudden-death team playoff. Freshman George McGlinn also forced an individual playoff with a clutch 30-foot par putt on the 18th hole before finishing second.

The Hoyas and James Madison finished regulation tied atop the team leaderboard, setting up a sudden-death playoff to determine the tournament champion. Georgetown shot two-over par in the playoff, while James Madison finished at even par to claim the team title.

McGlinn's dramatic finish also forced an individual playoff against James Madison's Michael Hake. The freshman sank a 30-foot par putt on the 18th hole to extend the competition, but Hake made par in the playoff while McGlinn carded a bogey, securing the individual title for Hake and a runner-up finish for McGlinn.

Georgetown placed two golfers in the top 10, with McGlinn leading the way in second place and Alan Rose tying for 10th.

ON THE RECORD

"I was really proud of how I played this week. As a freshman, being in the final group was definitely a shock to the system. I knew I could play well and that's what I did. I played like I had nothing to lose and it paid off. Early birdies in the final round helped me get off to a hot start, and I kept that momentum all the way through to the last putt. The guys are ready to go for the spring season, and hungry for a win. Can't wait for what the rest of the year holds for me and the team." – George McGlinn

"Today was special. grit, heart and patience pulled us to the finish line. So proud of the guys. To overcome a 13-stroke margin in one round is a monumental task and they believed they could do it. We wanted to play hard for Barnes Blake and Zander Maloy given it closed out their final fall Season of their career on the Hilltop. Now we get excited for our spring season!" - Head Coach Tommy Hunter
