Georgetown Finds Its First Win on Day 1 of THE Spring Games

Madeira Beach, Florida – Georgetown softball finished up its first day of THE Spring Games in Madeira Beach, Florida on Friday recording a win over Middle Tennessee (8-7) and a loss to Omaha (6-0). Georgetown now sits at 8-8 on the season so far. The Hoyas play back-to-back games on Saturday against Rhode Island and UAlbany.

  • Sunday, Mar. 6 vs Central Michigan – 11:30 a.m.

vs. Middle Tennessee
  • Kayla Dunn stepped up to the plate in the first hitting a three-run homer to center field putting three points on the board for the Hoyas (3-0).
  • In the fifth Mae Forshey doubled to left field allowing for two runners to cross the plate (5-0).
  • Alyssa Chavez hit her fourth home run of the year to bring in two more runs for the Blue & Gray (7-1).
  • Middle Tennessee was able to put up three runs to make it 7-3.
  • Forshey hit a ball to center field in the sixth to advance Cameron Kondo home (8-3). 
  • MT made moves in the bottom of the sixth three runs to bring the score to 8-6 and earned another run in the seventh but was not able to even the score with Georgetown (8-7).
 
vs. Omaha
  • The Hoyas and Mavericks went scoreless until the fifth when Omaha got a hit allowing two players to cross home plate (2-0).
  • The Hoyas loaded the bases a few times but were unable to score and the game ended 6-0 to Omaha.
