Hoyas Fall Short on Day Two of THE Spring Games

Madeira Beach, Fla.  – Georgetown softball played two well-fought games against Rhode Island and UAlbany on Saturday at THE Spring Games in Madeira Beach, Florida. The games are the third and fourth of the weekend for the Hoyas as they are set to play two final games on Sunday against Central Michigan and Long Island at ROC Park.

vs. Rhode Island
  • First baseman Mae Forshey hit a double down the left field line letting Cameron Kondo cross home (1-0).
  • RI was able to get five runs on the board by the middle of the fourth (5-1)
  • Savannah Jones hit a sac fly to right field which Cassie Henning was able to advance and score from third (5-2).
  • Kiki Besnard added to a string of hits for the Blue & Gray when she singled and Gianna Sciullo crossed home plate (5-3).
  • In the sixth Brittany Lew hit a ball through the infield and Kiaris Alvarado Rojas added another run for GU (5-4). 
  • RI had one last run in the seventh to end the game 6-4.
 
vs. UAlbany
  • The Hoyas went up 1-0 over the Great Danes in the first from Forshey's double down the left field line advancing Kondo home.
  • UAlbany came back to score five runs by the fourth inning (5-1).
  • Jones hit a fly ball out past the UAlbany third baseman earning GU a second run as Henning crossed home.
  • Besnard singled in the sixth advancing Scuillo for another run (5-3). 
  • Lew followed with an identical play pushing Alvarado Rojas home as well (5-4).
  • UAlbany was able to register one last run to close the game out 6-4.
