WASHINGTON – The Georgetown softball team closed out its series with Villanova on Sunday after an 8-2 loss to the Wildcats. The Hoyas went 0-3 on the weekend and fall to 12-20 overall, 2-8 in the BIG EAST, as the Wildcats rise to 19-19 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
How It Happened
- Villanova struck first as they tallied three runs in the first inning from a fielder's choice, and two walks (3-0).
- In the fourth, GU's catcher Mae Forshey launched a ball over the left field fence line to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- Abby Smith slid a ball into left to advance Gianna Sciullo and bring Cameron Kondo home (3-2).
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Wildcats responded with a three-RBI homer followed by a two-RBI home run for an additional five runs to close out scoring 8-2.
Of Note
- Georgetown had five hits on the afternoon to Villanova's five.
- Julia Parker and Kayla Dunn led the Hoyas from the circle.
