Georgetown Bests Seton Hall in Five Inning Game

their overall record to 13-21 and 3-9 in the BIG EAST as the Pirates now sit at 16-17 overall and 5-9 in conference play.

How It Happened
  • Abby Smith stepped up in the third spot for the Hoyas in the first and singled to center. Mae Forshey advanced and Cameron Kondo was able to cross home to make it 1-0.
  • In the second, Savannah Jones knocked a double to center to get Cassie Henning home to double the score 2-0.
  • Jones advanced to score and Kiki Besnard showed her speed as she rounded third and headed home on an error by the Seton Hall second baseman adding another run (4-0).
  • A Pirates' double in the fourth closed the Hoyas lead by two runs (4-2).
  • Later in the top of the fourth Seton Hall added a third run from a hard hit ball to left for runners to advance.
  • Tacking on another hit on the day, Jones smacked a ball clear of the fence line in center for two RBIs (6-3).
  • Seton Hall slipped a ball to left for a runner to get to second as another Pirate crossed the plate making it 6-4.
  • Alyssa Chavez stepped up in the fifth and homered one far left to bring Gianna Sciullo and herself around for two runs (8-4).
  • Kondo sliced a ball along the left foul line later in the fifth to keep it inplay for a triple. Besnard, Lorena Vasquez-Inzunza and Henning booked it around the bases to add three more runs for the Hoyas (11-4).
  • Needing only one more run to run-rule the Pirates, Jones popped a ball to right center and Kondo crossed home to close the game 12-4.
