Hoyas Fall in Final Game to the Pirates

 

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown softball team fell to Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon 13-10 after the teams finished a full seven-inning game for the first time in the series. The Hoyas fall to 13-22 overall, 3-10 in conference, and the Pirates level at 17-17 and 6-9 in the BIG EAST.

 

How It Happened

  • The Pirates singled in the first to bring a runner around to make it 1-0.

  • Georgetown's Abby Smith knocked a single in the first to bring Savannah Jones across the plate (1-1).

  • In the second, Cameron Kondo slipped a ball to center, bringing Cassie Henning home for the lead 2-1.

  • SHU matched the score in the second with a sac fly to left (2-2).

  • Smith slammed a homer to center in the third for two RBIs making it 4-2.

  • In the fourth, Seton Hall hit a two RBI home run, a double and a single RBI homer for five runs (7-4).

  • Jones slapped a ball to center in the fourth to bring Kondo to third base. Kondo advanced home after an error by Seton Hall (7-5).

  • Forshey slid a ball down the right line in the fourth to bring Jones home (7-6).

  • Alyssa Chavez followed by smashing a ball deep to center to get Gianna Sciullo and Forshey across home for ahi to regain the lead (8-7).

  • The Pirates capitalized on a hard hit double and a Hoya error in the fifth to get three more runs (10-8).

  • Mae Forshey slapped a ball out of center field to cut the deficit to 10-9.

  • In the seventh, a Seton Hall triple brought three Pirates across home making it 13-9.

  • Chavez responded in the bottom of the seventh, launching a ball out of the park, but it was not enough to level the score and the Pirates took the win.
