Hoyas Fall to Rider University Broncs

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown field hockey team fell to the Rider University Broncs 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Cooper Field. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to a record of 3-7, while the Broncs advance to 4-4 on the season.
 
How it Happened
  • The first quarter was scoreless, with Ciara Weets making a penalty stroke save for the Hoyas.
  • Despite presses from both teams during the second quarter, neither team was able to find the back of the net and the 0-0 score stood at halftime. 
  • Rider University broke the standoff with a goal off a penalty corner by Indy Zoontjens in the last two minutes of the third quarter.
  • The Broncs followed up with another goal by Valeria Perales assisted by Zoontjens.
  • The Broncs extended their lead minutes later with a goal by Zoontjens, assisted by Perales, bringing the score to 3-0. 
  • Late in the fourth quarter, the Broncs scored again with a goal by Perales, taking the win 4-0. 
 
Of Note
  • Ciara Weets made two saves in the match for the Hoyas, including one penalty stroke save.
