ON THE RECORD
"It's hard to play without one of your best players (
Brandon Murray), but I thought our guys fought hard in the first half but made too many mistakes - they made them in the first half but they didn't hurt us as much but it hurt us tremendously in the second half. We have to continue to work and continue to try and get better. But yes, we miss both [
Brandon Murray] and Bryson (Mozone)." - Head Coach
Patrick Ewing on the game and playing without second-leading scorer
Brandon Murray

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams traded baskets early in the first half until a triple from Bristol Jr. gave the Hoyas their first lead of the game, 15-14, and sparked an 8-0 run over nearly two minutes for the Blue & Gray to take a 21-14 lead (11:37).
- Georgetown would continue to pull ahead but Marquette continued to find the answer. With the score tied at 28, Riley came up with the 3-pointer, drew the foul and was able to complete the four-point play as GU pulled ahead 32-28.
- Despite Marquette tallying a quick six-straight to take the 34-32 advantage, Denver Anglin found the equalizer through traffic with 2:29 left.
- At the buzzer, Spears tallied the bucket as the Hoyas took a 36-34 lead in the locker room.
- In the second half, Marquette jumped out to a quick lead on an 11-2 run to take the 45-38 lead, forcing the GU timeout. The Hoyas managed four-straight to make it a one-possession game (45-42) but MU quickly retorted with a bucket of its own.
- The teams would trade baskets and an Akok triple made it a one-possession game once again (56-53, 13:01) but a 17-2 run was too much for the Blue & Gray to overcome as Marquette cruised to the 95-73 win.
