WASHINGTON – The top-seeded Georgetown University men's soccer team defeated the fifth-seeded University of Connecticut Huskies 2-0 in the BIG EAST Championship Semifinal at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland on Thursday evening. With the win, the No. 3/6 Hoyas improve to a mark of 13-2-2 on the year, while the Huskies drop to 9-8-1 for the season.
Head Coach Brian Wiese
- "We played the game at a good tempo and created a lot of chances. Early on, when the chances didn't go in, the guys didn't panic. We had some good setup performances from the attacking players, Marlon Tabora continues to be playing some of his best soccer. It was also nice to see guys step up and carry the load when Jacob wasn't quite 100 percent, they really made up for that. Kenny Nielsen and the backline had another great performance which made a quiet night for Ryan Schewe in goal. Overall, I thought we were focused and performed well which got us a deserved result and hopefully we can carry this momentum into Sunday."
