WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's soccer players
Kenny Nielsen and
Kieran Sargeant earned United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-America honors on Friday. They were two of three student-athletes from the BIG EAST Conference to be on the list. Earlier in the week, the two defenders were named First Team All-East Region along with a pair of teammates earning regional honors as well as invitations to the MLS College Showcase.
Kenny Nielsen
United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-America
- The defender was named First Team All-East Region earlier this week.
- He was the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
- Nielsen started all 19 games he appeared in and had one goal and one assist for three points on the season.
- The team captain had the game winner against Pitt.
- On defense, Nielsen organized a backline that posted eight shutouts on the season.
- Nielsen was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on 9/18.
- It was Nielsen's third-consecutive BIG EAST postseason award after earning a spot on the All-BIG EAST Third Team in both 2021 and 2022.
- He was the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection in August.
- This is his first All-America honor.
Kieran Sargeant

- The defender was named First Team All-East Region earlier this week.
- He was a First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
- Sargeant started all 19 games he appeared in on the backline.
- He had one goal and seven assists for nine points on the year.
- The junior was part of a defense that posted eight shutouts this year.
- He earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on 9/25.
- It was his second-career postseason honor after earning a spot on the third team a season ago.
- Sargeant was a Preseason All-BIG EAST honoree.
- This is his first All-America honor.
Jacob Murrell
United Soccer Coaches First Team All-East Region
MLS College Showcase
- Selected as First Team All-BIG EAST.
- Murrell led the team in scoring with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points on the year.
- He had an impressive six game winners on the season ranking among the top in the BIG EAST and in the nation.
- Murrell had two goals and one assist in the opening match of the season, and had multi-point games on three occasions.
- He started all 19 games for the Blue & Gray this past year.
- Murrell was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on 9/25 and earned spots on the Weekly Honor Roll on both 8/28 and 10/30.
- This is his first-career all-region honor on the Hilltop.
Ryan Schewe
United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-East Region
MLS College Showcase
- Schewe was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
- The goalkeeper started all 14 games he appeared in this season.
- The senior had a record of 9-2-3 with five shutouts on the year.
- He boasted a 0.84 goals-against average and a 0.707 save percentage.
- The goalkeeper had 29 saves this season.
- He was the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection in August.
- It was his second-career honor on the Hilltop after being named to the second team a season ago.
- This is his first-career all-region honor on the Hilltop.
United Soccer Coaches All-American
- Nielsen and Sargeant help bring the All-American total to 22 in Georgetown program history and the 21 under Head Coach Brian Wiese.
- This is the fifth-consecutive season that the Blue & Gray has boasted an All-America honoree.
