Hoyas Travel to Seton Hall For Midweek Matchup

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team is set to travel to Newark, New Jersey to take on the Seton Hall Pirates on Tuesday evening. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at Prudential Center. The Hoyas are coming off an 89-75 loss to the then-No. 10/10 Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturday while the Pirates are coming off a 58-54 loss at Villanova on Saturday.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas enter Tuesday's game with a 6-20 record and a 1-14 mark in BIG EAST play after falling to No. 10/10 Marquette at Capital One Arena on Saturday afternoon.
  • Jay Heath led the Blue & Gray with 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting while also chipping in four rebounds, two assists and one steal.
  • Bryson Mozone and Akok Akok  also reached double figures for the Hoyas with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Both Mozone and Akok were active on the defensive end with Mozone having a team-high three steals while Akok added five blocks to go along with his four rebounds.
  • In his first start, Bradley Ezewiro grabbed a squad-best nine rebounds while Primo Spears paced the offense with eight assists.
  • Spears' 15.9 ppg leads a trio of Hoyas averaging double figures, followed by Brandon Murray (14.5 ppg) and Heath (12.6 ppg).
  • On the glass, Qudus Wahab leads the team with 7.1 rpg while Akok chips in 6.6 rpg.
  • Spears paces the offense with 5.3 apg, which is tied for second in the BIG EAST Conference. Akok's team-leading 2.0 bpg is third in the league.
 
ABOUT THE PIRATES
  • Seton Hall (15-11, 8-7 BE), is coming off a 58-54 loss at Villanova in Philadelphia on Saturday.
  • Tyrese Samuel led the Pirates against Villanova with an impressive double-double that included 14 points and 10 rebounds on the day. Samuel went 7-of-11 from the floor while adding one assist, two blocks and one steal.
  • Al-Amir Dawes and Kadary Richmond were the other two Pirates to reach double figures with Dawes scoring 13 and Richmond scoring 10. Richmond had a team-high nine assists while also chipping in five rebounds, four steals and one block.
  • Dawes leads the Pirates in scoring this season with 12.3 ppg while Samuel (10.6 ppg) and Richmond (10.3 ppg) round out the Pirates averaging double figures.
  • Samuel (5.7 rpg) and Richnond (5.5 rpg) lead the Pirates on the glass, while Richmond's 4.2 apg paces the offense.
  • Head Coach Shaheen Holloway is in his first season at the helm of the Pirates.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Tuesday's matchup will be the 118th all-time meeting between the two programs dating back to 1909 with the Hoyas holding the series lead 61-56.
  • In their last contest earlier this season, the Hoyas fell 66-51 in Washington, D.C. Spears, Akok and Jordan Riley led the Hoyas with nine points each. Akok chipped in two blocks and Riley added three steals.
