Men’s and Women’s Tennis Travel to Omaha and Creighton

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's and women's tennis teams are in Nebraska this weekend to take on Omaha before facing off in a BIG EAST contest against Creighton. The match against Omaha will be played on Friday with the women starting at 2:30 p.m. ET  and the men following at 7 p.m. The Hoyas will face Creighton on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. ET for the women and 7 p.m. for the men.

About the Hoyas
  • The Blue & Gray (6-3) had a victorious weekend after picking up a 6-1 conference win over Marquette and a sweeping 7-0 finish over Army at home. GU is currently on a three-match win streak. 
  • Sophomore Jake Fellows and freshman Arthur O'Sullivan were named BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week for their 6-3 win over Marquette's Tin Krstulovic and Blake Roegner and a 6-3 victory over Army's Vishnu Bodavula and Samuel Haikal. 
  • The Hoyas last faced Creighton on March 10, 2020 and fell short 4-3.
About Omaha
  • Omaha (7-3) went 1-1 last weekend falling 4-3 to Creighton before picking up a 6-1 victory over Pratt Community College. 
  • The Mavericks are ranked No. 75 in the ITA Collegiate Tennis National Rankings for the first time in program history
About Creighton 
  • The Bluejays (4-3) are on a four match win streak including a 4-3 conference win over two-time defending BIG EAST Champions DePaul. 
  • Matthew Lanahan was named BIG EAST men's Singles Player of the Week for the week of February 13. The junior picked up a pair of wins to earn team victories against Northern Illinois and DePaul.

  • Georgetown (4-3) is coming off of a 1-1 weekend with a 5-1 conference win over Marquette before falling 6-1 at Army. 
  • In Georgetown's last meeting with Creighton in 2020 the Hoyas fell 6-1.

  • Omaha (4-3) is coming off a weekend sweep with a 4-1 win over Milwaukee and a dominating 7-0 finish against Fort Hays State University. 
About Creighton 
  • The Bluejays are now 7-1 on the season after collecting a 6-1 win over Milwaukee.
