Donahue and Stokes Named BIG EAST Track Athletes of the Week

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's Maggie Donahue and Parker Stokes were named the BIG EAST Track Athletes of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the league office. The honor comes after the Hoyas split sites between the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia and the EKU Rick Erdmann Twilight Meet, held in Richmond, Kentucky.
 
MAGGIE DONAHUE (SENIOR / DISTANCE / WELLESLEY, MASS.  / WELLESLEY)
  • Donahue was named the BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week after she clocked a league-best 33:37.22 in her first 10,000-meter run of the season at last week's Virginia Challenge.
  • The senior distance runner won the event in Charlottesville.
  • Her time sits 60th on the NCAA Division I Outdoor performance list and is first in the BIG EAST.
  • It is the first BIG EAST honor of the season for Donahue.
 
PARKER STOKES (SENIOR / DISTANCE / ENDICOTT, N.Y. / MAINE-ENDWELL)
  • Stokes was named the BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete of the Week after he crossed the finish line at 8:34.67 in his first 3,000-meter steeplechase of the season to finish second at the Rick Erdmann Twilight Meet.
  • His time ranks second in the BIG EAST this season.
  • His time also ranks seventh among all NCAA Division I runners.
  • It is the first BIG EAST honor of the season for Stokes.
 
UP NEXT
The Hoyas will return to action next week for the 2023 Penn Relay Carnival from Thursday to Saturday, April 27-29. The three-day track meet will be held at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
