Hoyas Fall to UConn 5-4

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team fell to UConn 5-4 in the first round of the BIG EAST Championships at Prasco Park. With the loss, the Hoyas will face the loser of the Xavier vs. Seton Hall game that will take place at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

ON THE RECORD
"That was a great high level baseball game against the No. 9 team in the country. Margin for error is small when you are playing a sound team like UConn. Cody Bowker and Kai Leckszas being two freshmen really battled for us and gave us a great chance. They had a couple breaks at the end there when they hit a ball just out of the infield, but they earned it and played well enough to win. We saw why Fogell is one of the top pitchers in our league and same goes for Willis. I thought we battled against their starter and got some guys on. Austin Kretzschmar, Angelo D'Acunto and Zaid Walker had some big hits for us we just couldn't get anybody across when we had the bases loaded a few times. I am proud of our effort and the way we competed and we will be ready to comeback out here tomorrow against whoever we play." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson
