TOWSON, Md. – Georgetown University's field hockey team fell 4-1 against Appalachian State on Sunday afternoon at the Towson Field Hockey Complex. The Hoyas drop to 0-2 on the season while the Mountaineers move to 2-0.

How it Happened
• A tightly contested opening quarter saw App State take advantage of their first penalty corner of the game to take a 1-0 lead 11:12 into the frame.
• The Hoyas put together a strong defensive performance in the opening half, allowing the lone Mountaineer goal on just two shots the entire half including none in the second stanza.
• Georgetown had its opportunities on the other side of the pitch, launching seven first half shots against ASU but couldn't convert as the Mountaineer goalkeeper Addie Clark had three of her saves in the opening half.
• In the third quarter, App State took advantage of four penalty corners in the frame and scored two quick goals at the 35:45 and 36:15 marks to pull ahead 3-0 before adding another just four minutes later.
• Georgetown's goal in the fourth came just under three minutes in the final frame.

• Sophie Baxter had two goals for the Mountaineers.
• Florine Koopman and Charlotte Bosma scored as well.
• Grace Ball and Noa Ginjaume Mata were both credited with a pair of assists while Sarah Farrell, Sarah Perkins and Florine Koopman each had one.
• Clark collected four saves in the win.
