Football to Host Stonehill

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team will conclude its three-game homestand with a contest against the Stonehill Skyhawks on Saturday, September 16. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. at Cooper Field.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown is coming off its second win of the season after earning a 27-10 victory over Sacred Heart last Saturday.
  • The Hoyas dominated the Pioneers in the run game with 6.8 yards per run for a total of 272 and two touchdowns. Georgetown is now ranked fourth in the nation with 280.5 yards per game. 
  • GU was led by Naieem Kearney who ran for 140 yards and one touchdown and Joshua Stakely who ran for 116 yards and one touchdown. Stakely currently leads all Patriot League rushers and is ranked sixth in the FCS with 117 yards per game.
  • In the opening two games, the Blue & Gray lead the nation defensively. The Hoyas are number one in the FCS in total defense (186.0 ypg), scoring defense (8.5 ppg), first down defense (20) and team passing efficiency defense (43.12).
  • Heading into week three of action, the Hoyas are the lone Patriot League team that remains undefeated.

ABOUT THE SKYHAWKS 
  • Stonehill is coming off a 33-30 conference win over Central Connecticut State last Saturday. 
  • Senior Placekicker Perry Shelbred tied the program record with a 52-yard field goal in the last seconds of the game to capture the win for the Skyhawks. 
  • Junior quarterback Ashur Carraha completed 17-30 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns. 
  • The Skyhawks ran for 236 yards and two touchdowns with Jermaine Corbett leading the way with 182 yards and one touchdown. 
  • Defensively, Stonehill recorded one sack for loss, six tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, three broken up passes and two hits on the quarterback. Micah Brown led with seven total tackles with three solo and four assists. 

THE MATCHUP
  • The Hoyas will look to extend their win streak as they take on the Skyhawks for the first time in program history this Saturday.
