Hoyas Sweep Blue Demons, Open BIG EAST Play With Win

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's women's volleyball program (10-3 (1-0)) started BIG EAST competition off strong downing DePaul 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-17). Georgetown moves to 10-3 on the season and are now 1-0 in BIG EAST play. DePaul falls to 7-5 on the season and 0-1 in-conference.

"I'm so very proud of the team and the way they executed the gameplan," said Head Coach AJ Bonetti. "They were ready, prepared and willing to do what was needed to get the win."

"As a team we were extremely cohesive." said freshman outside hitter Grace Albaugh. "There wasn't a moment of doubt within anyone on the court. Whenever DePaul would get on runs, we immediately got out of them. This was an amazing experience for my first conference match."

Hoya Highlights:
  • Grace Albaugh led the Blue & Gray on offense, tying her career high with 11 kills. However, she wasn't the only Hoya to excel on offense. Kamryn Lee-Caracci had nine kills, Peyton Wilhite and Mary Grace Goyena added eight each, and Makayla Serrett had five.
  • The Hoyas formed a wall at the net, finishing 10 total blocks, the most they've had in a three-set match this season. Serrett and Lee-Caracci led the way with five blocks each, and setter Emily Wen had a career-high four.
  • Georgetown has now won four straight, tying its longest win streak of the season.
  • Reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week Karis Park had another strong performance, anchoring the team with a match-high 14 digs. Wilhite added 11 as the Hoyas tallied their most digs in a three-set match this season.
