WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's women's volleyball team split a doubleheader at home on Friday, defeating Old Dominion 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-15) and falling to North Alabama 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 25-21). The games were the first two in the D.C. Showdown, and the first two games played at McDonough Arena this season.
Against ODU:
- A balanced attack led the way for the Hoyas, with 12 kills from Mary Grace Goyena, 11 from Peyton Wilhite, and eight from Grace Albaugh.
- Emily Wen continued to impress as a setter and finished with a game-high 32 assists.
- Reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Kamryn Lee-Caracci finished with a career-high three service aces.
- Georgetown found consistency in their attacks, finishing with a .333 hitting percentage. This was a season high for the Blue & Gray.
ODU Notes
- Junior Myah Conway led the ODU attack with 10 kills. She also added three total blocks.
- LeAnne Lowery led all players with four total blocks.
- Old Dominion finished 0–2 on the day in the D.C. Showdown, falling in four sets to George Washington later in the evening.
Against North Alabama:
- Wilhite led the Hoyas with a season-high 20 kills. She also added 11 digs and two total blocks.
- Grace Goyena tied her season high with four total blocks.
- Wen led all players with a game-high 40 assists.
North Alabama Notes:
- Graduate student Luana Bulara set a new career high with 22 digs. She also added six assists.
- Avery Markham led the Lions with 13 kills. Katy Floyd added 12, and Anna Katherine Griggs had 11 on the night.
- North Alabama has had an undefeated start to the D.C. Showdown, winning over Georgetown 3-1 and edging George Washington 3-2.
