Georgetown Football Travels to Lafayette for Patriot League Opener

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team will be back in action after a bye week. The Hoyas will begin conference play as they travel to Easton, Pennsylvania to take on Lafayette on Saturday, October 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Fisher Stadium.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas completed a fourth-quarter comeback to earn a 20-17 victory over Columbia in the Lou Little Trophy game on Cooper Field on Saturday, September 28.  
  • Against the Lions, Jimmy Kibble led the receivers with 10 catches for 164 yards, averaging 16.4 yards per reception, including a 43-yard long. Kibble leads the Patriot League with 417 reception yards (averaging 84.3 per game).
  • Nick Dunneman led the scoring in the win over Columbia with two touchdown catches, including a 16-yard catch to seal the victory. 
  • On defense, David Ealey III led with eight tackles, six of them solo, while Preston Murray contributed two interceptions, one broken-up pass and seven tackles.
  • Against the Lions, GU capitalized on two of three red zone opportunities, scoring touchdowns on both occasions. The Hoyas' defense forced four turnovers without committing any.
  • Quarterback Danny Lauter has thrown 104 completions for 1146 yards and five touchdowns. 
  • Cam Pygatt leads the league with the longest reception this season at 77 yards. 
  • Georgetown is third in the FCS with 16 sacks. David Ealey III is first in the league with 3.5 sacks followed by Blomstrom who is in second with three. Blomstrom also leads the Patriot League with 7.5 TFLs averaging 1.50 per game. 
  • Naieem Kearney leads the Blue & Gray's ground game with six rushing touchdowns. The running back has rushed for 313 yards on 61 attempts.
  • Kicker Patrick Ryan is 4-6 in field goals and 15-16 in PATs. 
ABOUT THE LEOPARDS
  • Lafayette returns to Easton, Pennsylvania after a 28-23 victory over Patriot League foe Fordham. 
  • Against the Rams, Jamar Curtis ran for 111 yards and Troy Bruce added 72 yards and a touchdown.
  • The Leopard defense forced two turnovers and had three straight pass breakups by Gabe DuBois and a final PBU by Xavier Johnson to seal the victory.
  • Lafayette leads the Patriot League in passing offense with an average of 250.8 yards per game. 
  • Wide receiver Elijah Steward leads the league with an average of 104 reception yards per game. 
  • Curtis leads the Leopards' ground game with 423 yards on 90 rushes. 
  • Quarterback Dean DeNobile had thrown 110 yards for 1193 yards and nine touchdowns. 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Georgetown and Lafayette will meet for the 27th time in program history. The Hoyas are 10-16 against the Leopards. 
  • Last season, quarterback Danny Lauter set a new program record for single-game passing yards with 428 and tied the program record for single-game pass completions with 25. The Connecticut native threw three touchdown passes including one for 81 yards. Jimmy Kibble led the offense with two touchdown catches for a total of six catches for 201 yards and 103 yards after catch. 
  • The last time the Hoyas beat the Leopards was in 2022 at Fisher Stadium in a 30-20 decision. In the win, Wedner Cadet picked off Lafayette in the third quarter, tallying his fourth interception of the season.
