Easton, Pa. – The Georgetown football team shut out the defending Patriot League Champions 17-0 in its conference opener at Fisher Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas advance to 1-0 in league play and 4-2 overall while Lafayette is now 1-1 in the Patriot League and 3-3 overall.
ON THE RECORD
"It was a great day for our defense. They forced four interceptions and our offense had the ball for 40 minutes. That's the kind of effort you need in Patriot League games. I think Lafayette has an excellent football team. We challenged our guys to come out and play tough the entire day and stop the run. I'm extremely proud of our team. Any time you can shut out a Patriot League opponent is a huge day. We will enjoy this one on the ride back to the Hilltop and then start gearing up for another conference matchup against Colgate next week." - Head Coach
Rob Sgarlata on today's contest.
