WASHINGTON – Georgetown sophomore
Malik Mack has been named to the 20-person Preseason Watch List for the 2025 Bob Cousy Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday. The Bob Cousy Award highlights the top point guard in Division I men's college basketball.
MALIK MACK (SOPHOMORE / 6-2 / 175 / OXON HILL, MD.)
- Mack arrived on the Hilltop over the summer as an addition from the transfer portal from Harvard.
- At Harvard, he played in and started 24 games; missing three games due to illness. He averaged 33.2 minutes, 17.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 34.1 percent from behind the arc.
- The product out of Oxon Hill, Maryland was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year while also garnering All-Ivy Honorable Mention and First Team NABC All-District.
- Mack was tabbed as the ECAC Rookie of the Year and earned a nod to the First Team All-ECAC while being named a finalist for the Lou Jenson Award and the Kyle Macy Award. Named Raymond P. Lavietes '36 Most Valuable Player Award for his contributions during his freshman campaign.
- He won Ivy League Rookie of the Week eight times (Nov. 13, Nov. 20, Nov. 27, Dec. 4, Jan. 16, Jan. 22, Feb. 5, Feb. 12), setting a program record at Harvard and tying the Ivy League record.
- He set the program's single-season points record for a first-year (413 points), scored in double figures 21 times, netted 20 or more points eight times and dished out five or more assists 14 times.
- Ranked first in the Ivy League in assists per game (4.8), third in points per game (17.2), third in free throw percentage (81.3), fourth in free throws (100), fourth in minutes per game (33.4), and sixth in steals per game (1.3).
- Led the team in points per game, minutes per game, assists per game, and steals per game.
ABOUT THE AWARD
- The annual Bob Cousy Award, named after the Class of 1971 Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic and Holy Cross guard, celebrates its 22nd year by highlighting the top point guard in Division I men's college basketball.
- The last Hoya to be on the 20-person watch list was D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera for the 2016 Bob Cousy Award, as announced in October 2015.
