WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's Matthew Helfrich was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Second Team Academic All-American as announced by the organization on Tuesday. This marks the first national CSC honor for the program since Joshua Yaro earned the recognition in 2015.

• Helfrich appeared in 20 games for the Hoyas with 17 starts to his credit.
• He was part of a backline that recorded 11 shutouts on the season.
• Helfrich is a business major.
• He was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree.
• Helfrich's father Dan was an Academic All-American for the Hoyas in 1997 earning Third Team Fall/Winter At-Large honors.

• Helfrich was one of just 33 honorees nationwide and the only honoree from the BIG EAST Conference.
• The last Hoya to win the award was Yaro in 2015.
• Georgetown has had just five national winners in program history including Matthew Helfrich, Yaro, Mark Wilber (2009), Dan Helfrich (1997) and Todd Colonna (1992).
