WASHINGTON – With a trio of double-doubles on the day, the Georgetown University men's basketball team handily defeated the visiting Coppin State University Eagles, 83-53, at Capital One Arena on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 11-2 on the season while Coppin State slides to 1-13 on the year.
ON THE RECORD
"I thought our second half was the way that we wanted to play - in transition, we rebounded the ball very well and the three double-doubles, which is really good. We really challenged our guys defensively on the glass. I thought
Drew Fielder and (Thomas) Sorber did a great job for us on the floor. Malik (Mack) with 11 assists, if we can get that kind of performance from him consistently, it's going to give us a real chance to compete every night." -
Head Coach Ed Cooley
"Coach Cooley has mentioned a lot that it's hard for freshmen to play, especially with the talent that we have on this team. Every time that I get out there, the scoring will come, but I make sure that I just go get rebounds, make plays to help us win and just do everything that will help my team." -
