WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse battled hard with No. 13 Johns Hopkins before falling 11-9 in the 2024 home opener for the Hoyas on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Blue & Gray drop to 0-2 on the season while the Blue Jays improve to 2-1.

How It Happened
- A tightly-contested opening quarter saw Johns Hopkins score first at the 12:23 mark before the Hoyas responded with Haley's goal at 9:52. The Blue Jays answered right back less than a minute later to lead 2-1, but Cesare's goal with two ticks remaining in the frame knotted things up at 2-2.
- In the second, trading goals continued through the opening eight minutes to a 4-4 tie. Hopkins would score the final two goals of the period, taking a 6-4 lead into halftime.
- After a slow start to the second half, the Blue Jays scored back-to-back goals in a 32 second span to lead 8-4 at the 9:02 mark. The Hoyas followed suit by taking advantage of a two-minute full time penalty, scoring twice on the power play by Carroll and Bundy to make it 8-6. Hopkins answered in full, scoring two goals in the final three minutes to lead 10-6 with 15 minutes to play.
- Closing out the game, the Hoyas couldn't find a way to cut the JHU lead until a pair of Bundy goals in the final minute salvaged an 11-9 final score.
Johns Hopkins Notes
- Garrett Degnon led the Blue Jays with four goals while Jacob Angelus added two goals and two assists.
- Logan Callahan won 15 of 23 faceoffs on the day and collected nine ground balls.
- Defensively, Scott V. Smith had two caused turnovers and five ground balls.
- Chayse Irelan collected nine saves between the pipes for the win.

- Haley moved into sole possession for 21st place on Georgetown's all-time scoring list with 128 career points.
- Bundy passes former Hoya All-American Andy Flick ('00) for sixth place all-time in career goals with 124.
