WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University softball team dropped a pair of contests at the FGCU Kickoff Classic in Fort Myers, Florida on Saturday. The Hoyas lost the first game to Boston College (4-1) 3-0 before suffering a tough 7-0 decision to Louisville (3-0) in the second contest. With the losses, GU opens the season with a mark of 0-4.
BOSTON COLLEGE 3, GEORGETOWN 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a quiet outing for both squads in the first with the teams going scoreless. Boston College managed a run in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead.
- Georgetown continued to struggle finding offense in the third. However, the Eagles had a runner on before a single followed by a double pushed a pair of runners across the plate.
- The Hoyas were able to retire the next two batters to get out of the frame but it was not unscathed as BC held a 3-0 advantage that would hold through the final out.
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Avery Wissmar pitched 4.0 innings in the circle, taking the loss. She gave up three runs on six hits, striking out two and walking four.
- Kayla Dunn came on in relief, pitching 2.0 innings, giving up one hit and walking four.
LOUISVILLE 7, GEORGETOWN 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A hit from Maicie Levitt put runners on first and third in the top of the first, but the Hoyas would not be able to cross the plate. The Cards managed three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a lead.
- Abby Kozo got on base with a hit to left field in the second, but once again GU could not capitalize.
- A double from Brooke Rebhan led off the top of the third, however, the next three batters recorded outs as GU could not find a run and Louisville managed two more for the 5-0 lead.
- The Cards added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings and, despite a leadoff single from Kiaris Alvarado Rojas, it was 7-0 after six.
- In the top of the seventh, the Hoyas loaded the bases powered by a single up the middle by Dayanara Campos, but nothing came of the momentum as 7-0 stood as the final.
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- The Hoyas recorded five hits, but gave up seven by the Cards.
- Julia Parker took the loss in the circle with 3.2 innings pitched. Kayla Dunn pitched 2.1 innings in relief and tallied four strikeouts in the contest.

The Hoyas return to action for the final day of the FGCU Kickoff Classic with a game against LIU scheduled for Sunday, February 11. First pitch in Fort Myers, Florida is scheduled for 10 a.m.
