WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team fell to the Villanova University Wildcats 62-47 on Tuesday morning in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 16-9 on the season and 6-8 in league play, while the Wildcats improve to 16-8 for the year and 9-4 in the conference.

- "This game was on us. We have to do a better job of understanding what we're trying to do on both ends of the floor. We need everyone to step up in whatever their roles are. In order to beat a good team like Villanova, everyone needs to show up and play. We are going to continue to grow and get better for the games ahead."
How it Happened
- The Wildcats jumped out to a small lead, but an 8-0 run from four different Hoyas put Georgetown on top 8-4 midway through the first.
- Villanova would chip away at the advantage utilizing strong 3-point shooting and held the 14-13 lead after 10 minutes of play.
- The 'Cats opened the scoring again in the second, but Georgetown saw defense turn to offense as a 6-0 run on the break knotted the contest at 19.
- The teams would trade buckets, and a layup from junior Ariel Jenkins cut the lead to one. A triple at the buzzer by the Wildcats made the score 27-23 at the break.
- Buckets from Jenkins and senior Kelsey Ransom tied it up quickly in the third quarter, but Villanova would stage a 17-0 run to take the commanding 44-27 lead.
- The Hoyas trailed 46-33 at the end of the third quarter.
- The Blue & Gray did not give up, battling back in the final stanza and coming within eight with 4:42 remaining.
- The Wildcats were able to hold off any late runs making the final 62-47.
Of Note
- Jenkins led the way as the lone Hoya in double figures with 13 points in the contest as well as a squad-best eight rebounds.
- The Blue & Gray shot 37.7% (20-53) from the field, and Georgetown allowed 46.3% (25-54) shooting by the Wildcats.
- GU was outrebounded by Villanova 33-30, and Georgetown forced 13 'Cat turnovers on seven steals.
- Lucy Olsen led Villanova with 33 points, while Bella Runyan added 11 in the game.
