WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team downed the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights 7-2 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, GU secures the series victory and moves to 5-5 on the season while FDU slides to 1-8 on the year.
ON THE RECORD
"I am really proud of our group, that was one of those games that was anybody's game as they got it to within one, but we were able to take care of the back end of the game and it showed a lot of grit. I thought
Andrew Williams coming in under the circumstances that he did was fantastic, him giving us five and a third innings with no walks and eight strikeouts was huge. I thought
Marshall Whitmer and
Everett Catlett came in and helped us secure the victory. Offensively,
Christian Ficca had a great knockout punch in the eighth with his home run and it was great to see
Derek Smith and Travis Illitch do some great things at the plate as well. We are looking forward to game three tomorrow and we will come ready to compete."– Head Coach
